Columbia/Boone County announces less-restrictive coronavirus order

Columbia and Boone County announced lessened restrictions for bars and restaurants in its latest coronavirus health order.

Health director Stephanie Browning said Wednesday bars and restaurants serving alcohol can now stay open until midnight each night. Those businesses have had to close by 10:30 p.m. since last September.

Browning cited lower trends in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations as the reason for the change. There are no other alterations to the previous health order.

The new order takes effect at noon on Friday, and will last through March 4.
