The engineer in that deadly Amtrak crash in Philadelphia earlier this week is a Mizzou graduate. Brandon Bostian’s LinkedIn profile says he got a degree from the MU College of Business in 2006.
The Associated Press reports federal investigators say right before Tuesday night’s Amtrak train crash in Philadelphia, the engineer applied the emergency brakes, but that wasn’t enough to slow the train down to the 50 mph speed limit along a sharp curve.
Investigators say the engineer had been traveling at 106 mph and slowed to only 102 mph.
Philadelphia’s fire chief says eight people were killed in the crash.
Bostian is not speaking to authorities.
