Dead victim identified in Columbia triple shooting

Columbia police are investigating a drive-by shooting that killed one person and sent two others to the hospital.

Investigators say a woman who had a gunshot wound came into the Break Time at the intersection of Brickton and Trimble roads off East Broadway shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.

An employee of Break Time called police, who then found a man with gunshot wounds outside near a car. Officers searching the area also found another man with a gunshot wound nearby.

All three people were taken to the hospital. The man who was found outside next to the car, 26-year-old Jamar Hicks of Boone County, was later pronounced dead. CPD said Monday the other two victims have non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the shooter or shooters shot into the victims’ car from a vehicle near the intersection of Trimble and Brickton.

No arrests have been made yet. No word on how many suspects there are, or what type of car they were driving.
