Boone County reports two more COVID-19 deaths

Two more Boone County residents have died from COVID-19, health officials confirmed Thursday. Both patients were older than 80. That’s now 23 total deaths from the illness in Boone County.

Boone County reported 158 new coronavirus cases Friday. It’s the tenth day in the last 11 that Boone has confirmed more than 100 new cases. Active cases went up to 1,152. Hospitalizations rose, to 153. Hospitals in Boone are operating at “yellow” status, meaning they could be deferring some non-emergency patients or delaying elective surgeries.

Cole County reported Wednesday another seven people in the county have died from COVID-19. Health officials say there have now been a total of 31 deaths in Cole since the pandemic began. There were 124 new coronavirus cases confirmed in the county Wednesday. The health department’s website no longer shows the number of active cases, and it is changing the way it reports daily cases to reflect the day the specimen was collected instead of the day the results were received.

Callaway County reported 206 new cases in the last two days. Active cases rose to 795. The county reported its 11th COVID-19 death Wednesday.
