Inmate charge in Randolph County escape and chase

Randolph County prosecutors have charged Sadonna Marie Staton for escaping custody of a Chariton County deputy Wednesday and stealing his truck.

The deputy was taking Staton back to the Keytesville jail after medical appointments in Moberly on Wednesday afternoon. She allegedly tried to escape on Highway 24 near Huntsville. Authorities say some shots were fired, then Staton got away in the deputy’s unmarked pickup.

The truck crashed in the Clifton Hill area west of Moberly near Highways 24 and 3. Investigators say Staton tried to run but was caught about 30 minutes later.

That deputy has minor injuries, but no one was hurt by the gunshots.

Staton faces at least seven felony charges including assault, armed criminal action, and escaping from custody with a deadly weapon.

She is in the Randolph County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
