93.9 The Eagle’s general election preview

The 2020 general election is Tuesday. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

93.9 The Eagle will have live election night coverage starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, courtesy of Kemna Collision Repair and Merry Maids of Columbia and Jefferson City. Here are a few races we will be watching:

-Missouri governor Mike Parson vs. Nicole Galloway

-Republicans are also trying to keep seats in several other statewide races.

-Amendment 3 would un-do part of “Clean Missouri” that voters approved in 2018. Hear from a supporter and an opponent of the measure.

-Amendment 1 would extend the two-term limit to Missouri’s lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and auditor. The limit already applies to governor and treasurer.

-Caleb Rowden vs. Judy Baker for Columbia’s state Senate seat

-Republicans Cheri Toalson Reisch, Chuck Basye, and Sara Walsh try to hold three Missouri House seats in the Columbia area. They are opposed by Democrats Jacque Sample, Adrian Plank, and Kari Chesney, respectively. Listen to 93.9 The Eagle’s recent House forum. Dems Kip Kendrick and Martha Stevens are running unopposed in the other two Columbia-area districts.

-Boone County commissioners Fred Parry and Janet Thompson face challenges from Justin Aldred and Tristan Asbury, respectively. Watch a recent forum featuring the candidates.

-Longtime Boone County Sheriff Dwayne Carey, a Democrat, face a challenge from someone in his department, Republican Charles Blair.

-Centralia and Hallsville are among the communities considering a use tax on items purchased online.
