The controversial issue of data centers has divided residents in mid-Missouri’s Montgomery County, bringing hundreds of people to Monday night’s town meeting. Our news partner ABC-17 covered the meeting and reports many of the residents in the audience oppose proposed data centers there. Supporters say data centers are needed to build the infrastructure to support AI and create new jobs. Opponents worry about increasing electric bills.
You’re encouraged to attend Wednesday evening’s Zimmer AI town hall that will take place at 939 the Eagle and Zimmer Radio at 3215 Lemone Industrial drive in Columbia. “Wake Up Missouri” hosts Randy Tobler and Stephanie Bell will have a live studio audience, and you are welcome to attend and watch and listen to the town hall in-person. Doors at the station will open at 5:30 for the 6 pm town hall, and the event is free and open to all.

Dr. Tobler and Ms. Bell will be joined by Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin (R-Shelbina) and by Tim Marczewski, the director of AI and Innovation at the Missouri Office of Administration (OA). They’ll discuss numerous topics, including whether Missouri is prepared and how AI will affect the average person’s bills.
The town hall will also air live Wednesday evening from 6-7 on 939 the Eagle.
