A Jefferson City state rep says Missouri needs to take advantage of sports gambling.
Dave Griffith says that people are having to travel to bordering states to place wagers on sports.
“[People are] going across into Kansas and betting, or going across into Illinois and betting, or Iowa, we’re losing out on revenue,” said Griffith on Wake Up Mid-Missouri. “We’re losing out on revenue in the millions of dollars every year.”
Griffith’s bill that would legalize sports betting was presented in a House committee earlier this week. The Missouri Gaming Association testified against it, saying they had issues with the raised boarding fees and licensing taxes proposed in the bill.
