A Columbia man remains jailed without bond this morning, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City for an alleged scheme to produce and distribute child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say there are six child victims. 27-year-old Ryan Edward Hine has been charged in a seven-count superceding indictment, which replaces the original March 2023 federal indictment.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Newark New Jersey and in St. Louis are involved in this Columbia case, which also has ties to Mississippi. The indictment alleges that Hine began texting with a 15-year-old Mississippi female in 2018 and began traveling to Mississippi monthly to engage in sexual acts with the child victim, which he allegedly recorded on his cell phone.

Hines remains jailed without bond, and is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals at an undisclosed location.
