Voters in Columbia and Boone County have multiple opportunities this weekend to cast a no-excuse absentee ballot for the August election.

Boone County clerk Brianna Lennon says Columbia’s Roger Wilson Boone County Government Center will be open Saturday from 8-5. You can also cast a ballot Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at Columbia’s Parkade elementary gymnasium. Clerk Lennon’s office will also offer early voting on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm at the health department on Worley.

Clerk Lennon is forecasting an eight to nine percent voter turnout for August: she tells 939 the Eagle that about 1,500 voters have already cast ballots in-person.

Voters in Columbia/Boone County will cast ballots on Proposition 1, which involves exempting senior citizens from increases in property taxes. Voters in Columbia’s second ward will be filling a vacant council seat. Former second ward Councilwoman Lisa Meyer resigned in May for health reasons. Voters in the Harrisburg school district are being asked to increase the tax levy.

Polls will be open across Missouri on Tuesday from 6 am to 7 pm.
