AMBER alert leads to charges for Columbia woman

Boone County prosecutors charge a Columbia woman with kidnapping and tampering with a motor vehicle.

ABC 17 reports local authorities arrested 33-year-old Blythe Wells in Ashland Saturday night, in a case that triggered an AMBER Alert for a 14-day-old infant. The baby was found safe in the back seat of the SUV.

Prosecutors say Wells abducted the child after allegedly stealing the vehicle from a liquor store. Court documents say Wells told officers she didn’t know a baby was in the back seat.
