Ameren Missouri starts smart grid project in Jefferson City

Ameren Missouri has started a project that it says will cut power outage times from hours to seconds in downtown Jefferson City.

According to Missourinet, Ameren spokesman Chip Webb says the program includes smart technology to quickly find issues and get the lights back on.

“This project will have a positive impact on reliability across all of downtown Jefferson City.”

Work on the $1.2 million project started this month. It should be done by December. The state Capitol building, the Cole County Courthouse, and Jefferson City city hall are among the places covered.
