Ameren touts “smart switches” ahead of winter weather

The largest supplier of electricity in Missouri this winter is trying to make sure your heater stays on when the weather turns cold.

Ameren’s Chip Webb says it has smart switches installed in a few key spots in mid-Missouri.

“In years past where an outage may have taken anywhere from 4 to 8 hours for us to restore, with these smart switches in place we can literally restore power in seconds,” Webb says to Missourinet.

Ameren provides electricity to about 1.2 million Missourians.
