American Airlines adding more flights out of Columbia

The recent runway issues at Columbia Regional Airport have apparently not scared off American and United Airlines.

American confirms it will start running four daily flights from Columbia to Chicago on May 3. That’s up from two right now, which the airline says have strong demand.

United Airlines has also added a third daily flight to Chicago due to customer demand. The flight started running earlier this month.

All air traffic was grounded for a few days at the airport last week to smooth out the crown of a runway that was making for bumpy takeoffs and landings.
