The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri’s longtime president says hunger is real and is prevalent in our community.

Food bank president Lindsay Lopez tells 939 the Eagle that more people than ever need help with food. The annual 939 the Eagle Commerce Bank one-for-one holiday food drive to benefit the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri is fast approaching: it’s next Wednesday, December 13.

Ms. Lopez says their new food bank market on Columbia’s Business Loop served 350 families on opening day, which was November 1. 939 the Eagle and each of our  Zimmer mid-Missouri sister radio stations will have personnel at Columbia Mall on the 13th from 6 am to 6 pm. We’re teaming up again with the Columbia Professional Firefighters and with our news partner KMIZ to collect donations that day both outside the mall and inside the mall.

You’ll also be able to donate that day through the Missouri Pork Association’s phone bank.
