Columbia voters will be heading to the polls in April to vote on a local use tax ballot measure. The city council approved placing the item on the April ballot during Monday night’s meeting.

Columbia city leaders say a use tax would ensure that purchases from vendors located outside city limits are subject to the same local tax rates as those purchases made from Columbia vendors.

If voters approve the proposed April ballot measure, the local use tax would be enacted on purchases from vendors outside city limits.
