National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Melissa Delia tells 939 the Eagle that 6.46 inches of rain fell in April at Columbia Regional Airport (COU). Ms. Delia notes the record for April rainfall in Columbia happened in 1994, with 11.69 inches.

Columbia’s wet weather and storms included an Easter Sunday tornado that destroyed the city’s material recovery facility and damaged the landfill’s bio gas plant.
