Columbia-area business leaders and elected officials learned about the project during Wednesday’s Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) board meeting. AECI says it will invest $7-million into the project, which will create six new jobs. The new distribution center will feature 50,000 square feet of warehouse and office space.

AECI says Boonville was chosen for its central location. State Rep. Adrian Plank (D-Columbia), who grew up in rural Huntsville, says this is a big deal for Boonville and Cooper County, noting the ripple effect as well. The new distribution center will support electric cooperatives and public power providers throughout AECI’s company’s five-state area.
