Bond is set at $20,000 cash-only for an Independence man who allegedly threatened to kill everyone inside a busy Columbia Clark lane restaurant.

Monday’s incident happened in the 3200 block of Clark lane and court documents are redacted, so it’s unclear what restaurant it occurred at. McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken are a few of the restaurants in that block.

The Columbia Police Department’s three-page probable cause statement quotes witnesses who say 22-year-old Daverius Lee Jones allegedly said that he would kill everyone inside the restaurant. The court documents say Jones was holding two children when he made the threat, with another child walking behind him. The court documents say there were multiple customers in the drive-through and inside the restaurant when the incident happened, putting multiple people in fear for their safety. Court documents say Jones tried to re-enter the restaurant after making the threat to kill others.

Jones made his initial court appearance in Boone County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon before Judge Kimberly Shaw. He appeared via video from the Boone County jail.
