  1. This kind of reporting supports racism. The event had finished earlier in the evening, around 7:15. At the time of the shooting, witnesses reported that the big crowd had dispersed. Chairs were folded and the food trucks were packing up. Douglass Park had a celebration. Later, there was a shooting. To link the celebration to the shooting is misleading. Beyond police reports, was the event over? Was that confirmed by attendees, or an assumption. The holiday is not violent.

  2. Carla, we have updated our story. The information we got from the Columbia Police Dept. said the shooting happened during the celebration. -BT
