(AUDIO): Columbia’s police chief joins “Wake Up Columbia” to discuss 2020 Sun Court incident

A special prosecutor has cleared three Columbia police officers involved in a deadly 2020 officer-involved shooting, saying they acted within the law when they shot and killed suspect Curtis Haas. Special prosecutor Christopher Wilson of Callaway County reviewed body-camera video footage from the three officers, along with video footage from a civilian eyewitness. The March 2020 incident happened on Sun Court, when Columbia police tried to arrest Haas, a child molestation suspect. The letter from Wilson says Haas pointed a rifle out a window at an officer, before the officer fired at Haas. Wilson also says Haas then fired shots at an armored CPD vehicle.
