(AUDIO) Matt Akins on “Police Protected Pimp”

A new documentary released this week focuses on an alleged cover-up by the Columbia Police Department.

Local filmmaker Matt Akins and his group Citizens for Justice produced “Police Protected Pimp.”

Akins says CPD ignored a human trafficking ring for more than 20 years. He says police gave Barry Manthe protection in exchange for information about underground drug users in the Columbia area.

The film includes interviews with former sex workers, private investigators, and police. Manthe gets his federal prison sentence next week.

  1. So, as a community, what is to be done about this? I find it repulsive. As a woman, as a mom, as a taxpayer, if this is true, Houston, we have a problem.

  2. Gary Nolan needs to actually watch the video. There were girls held against their will. Getting girls addicted to crack and heroin makes Manthe more money and keeps the girls unable to move on.
