Columbia police chief Geoff Jones will retire effective August 1. He joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Mid-Missouri”. He’s been police chief since 2019. Chief Jones tells listeners that he told then-city manager John Glascock that he would stay for three to five years, when he became chief in 2019. He says he’s been thinking about retiring for months, well before the Harpo’s incident. Chief Jones tells listeners that he wants to spend more time with his family and children.
