As the weather allows, you might notice a $1.9 million road project starting in east Columbia.
A contractor is widening Ballenger Lane from Mexico Gravel Road to just north of Ria Street to make room for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other nonmotorized transportation users.
Expect a lot of one-lane traffic until the project is done late this summer. Part of Ballenger will be completely closed for two weeks at some point though, and there will be some overnight closures.
