BBB warns of coronavirus scams

Coronavirus scammers could make your bank account look sickly.

Michelle Gleba with the Mid-Missouri Better Business Bureau says she’s hearing some reports about virus scams in the United States.

“You just want to be cautious about people claiming to have cures for this virus,” Gleba said on Wake Up Columbia. “Scammers try to take advantage of whatever is going on in society, and so they’re trying to capitalize on our anxiety during this time.”

Gleba says to also watch out for fake fundraisers pretending to help novel coronavirus victims and researchers. See more scam alerts from the Food and Drug Administration here.
