Visitation is Friday for longtime Columbia businessman Tiger John Cleek, who passed away in March after battling ALS.

Visitation is from 4-8 at Parker-Millard Funeral Home on Columbia’s East Ash. The funeral is tomorrow at Columbia’s Crossing church on Grindstone.

A big turnout is expected today at Parker-Millard. The funeral home has a detailed obituary on its website, which says that Tiger John wanted badly to beat ALS and knew that research was the only way a cure could be found. He and “Team Tiger” raised $83,000 during an August walk to defeat ALS. The family requests donations to MU Health Care’s ALS Treatment Center, Special Olympics Missouri or the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.

Former Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel says no one loved Mizzou more than Tiger John Cleek. Mizzou honored Mr. Cleek during halftime of a November football game, for his longtime support of the Tigers. Tiger John only missed three football games, dating back to 1958. Coach Pinkel describes him as a wonderful man, father and grandfather.
