A Missouri House committee will vote this morning on legislation that would allow the northern Boone County town of Hallsville to place a public safety sales tax on the ballot.

The bill is sponsored by State Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch (R-Hallsville), who tells 939 the Eagle that Hallsville voters would have the final say at the polls.

She says if lawmakers approve House Bill 2526 and if Hallsville voters approve the sales tax, it would raise about $35,000 a year for Hallsville police.

Toalson Reisch is a lifelong Hallsville resident.
