Blunt, Hawley split on deal avoiding shutdown

Missouri’s U.S. Senators are split on the deal made by Congressional negotiators to avoid another government shutdown.

Senior Sen. Roy Blunt voted yes on Thursday, saying it’s a step toward securing the border.

But fellow Republican Josh Hawley (pictured) voted no, saying on Twitter it does not secure the border, and it weakens immigration enforcement.

President Trump is expected to sign the spending bill, but then declare a national emergency to get more funding for his border wall.
