Missouri’s senior U.S. Senator has sent the NCAA a letter questioning recent punishments put on Mizzou athletics.
Roy Blunt said Wednesday it was harmful to coaches, athletes, and staff who had nothing to do with what happened.
A tutor did some class work for 12 Mizzou athletes in football, baseball, and softball a couple years ago. The NCAA last month hit the Tigers with a one-year postseason ban in those sports, plus recruiting and scholarship restrictions.
Sen. Blunt’s letter says the punishments are overreaching, and send a message that cooperation is wrong.
