The Columbia Public Schools board of education meets on Friday morning to start talks about a possible change to the name of Rock Bridge football field.
It is named after local developer Wayne Sells. But the superintendent and school board president are among those criticizing a Sells Facebook post this week. He ripped NFL players kneeling during the national anthem in an expletive-filled post. Sells has apologized in a letter to the district, and suggested changing the name to “Veterans Memorial Field.”
The board meeting at 11:30 a.m. Friday is closed to the public. There is a public work session on Sept. 24.
