Bomb threat at Midway Plaza

(Updated 2pm) We now know that the man who called in a bomb threat did not have an explosive device in his backpack.

Boone County police say the incident took place at the Midway Truck and Travel Plaza Monday morning.  It started when workers at the plaza told the man to leave after he tried to start a fire.

The man then called police and told them he had explosives in his backpack.  Crews at the scene did an X-ray of the backpack and did not see anything suspicious. They also shot through the backpack to open it up.

We don’t know any more details about the man, other than he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
