Boone 911 director: dial 311 for non-emergencies

Boone County emergency management director Chad Martin says he’s trying to do the same as many others in his job across the country: get personal protective equipment like masks and gloves to law enforcement, ambulance crews, and others during the pandemic.

“Getting that out to our first responders is probably one of our biggest goals in our daily duties here in emergency management.”

Martin says only call 911 if you have a life-threatening issue or see a crime in progress. Otherwise, call 311.

“It does come in to the same center. It gets the same emergency tele-communicators. But it’s prioritized.”

Martin joined the new Inside Columbia Show, Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. on 93.9 The Eagle.
