Boone County Commission votes on Northwest Medical Isotopes Thursday

The Boone County Commission votes Thursday on a big property tax break for a new business.

Northwest Medical Isotopes wants to set up the only site of its kind in North America on the south edge of Columbia in the Discovery Ridge area. It would work with Mizzou’s research reactor and distribute an isotope used in medical scans.

The company is planning on more than a hundred jobs with above-average pay at a site that would open in 2021.

The commission is considering millions of dollars in property tax breaks through Chapter 100 bonds.
