Boone County deputies in neighboring county Monday, as part of double homicide investigation

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were in neighboring Callaway County Monday night, as part of the investigation into Sunday’s double homicide near Columbia.

Boone County Sheriff’s Captain Brian Leer tells the Eagle that Callaway County deputies assisted their deputies last night, in regards to the case. While he could not elaborate, Captain Leer says no arrests have been made.

43-year-old Allison Abitz and her 11-year-old daughter Josie were found dead late Sunday night in their home, on Lavender Drive. Deputies responded to their home, after receiving a call from a person who was unable to contact family members inside the home.

Captain Leer encourages anyone with information about the case to call Boone County deputies at (573) 442-6131.

Our television partner ABC-17 News reports Allison Abitz had served as a teacher at Bush Elementary in Fulton for the past five years.
