The Boone County Fire Protection District is thanking the Hallsville school district for allowing them to use a building scheduled for demolition for search and rescue training and forcible entry and exit.

The fire district says its volunteer firefighters gave up an entire Saturday for the recent training to hone their skills and improve their readiness. Boone County Fire Protection District assistant chief Gale Blomenkamp praises the firefighters, saying training in a real structure allows firefighters to practice in realistic layouts and conditions that can’t be fully replicated on the drill ground.
