Boone County has highest daily COVID spike

Boone County jumps to a new daily high of COVID-19 cases.

Health officials announced 39 new positives Thursday, leaping Tuesday’s previous record of 25. The county says its positive test rate has jumped to over 12% this week. Missouri reports 356 new positives Thursday, and five more people have died in the pandemic. Cole County picked up one new case for the second day in a row.

The Columbia / Boone County Health Department also says recent patrons of a Columbia restaurant and bar may have been exposed to COVID-19. Visitors to Room 38 between June 22nd and June 25th might have encountered the virus. It’s asking patrons to monitor for symptoms, and self-isolate if they exhibit any, pending a COVID-19 test.
