Boone County’s top elected official will be in-studio Saturday morning for the hour on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable.”
Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick will join host Mike Murphy from 7-8 am Saturday to discuss numerous topics, including the county budget, Proposition L and the Boone County jail, the purchase of an animal hospital and Boone Health. They’ll also address 800 mhz radios.
Commissioner Kendrick was elected presiding commissioner in 2022 and is unopposed for re-election in November. He also serves as liaison to Boone County Joint Communications, to the Office of Emergency Management and to the Boone County road and bridge department.
Boone County Sheriff Dwayne Carey supports Proposition L, which will be on your November ballot in Columbia/Boone County. Proposition L calls for adding three-eighths-of a cent to the county’s current one-eighth cent law enforcement sales tax to fund a new county jail.
Sheriff Carey says we’re in a crisis situation now with the 35-year-old county jail due to overcrowding. Sheriff Carey spoke this month on 939 the Eagle’s “Sunday Morning with Ken and Brian”, telling listeners the county will spend $5-million this year housing 230 inmates in 14 other county jails, including Greene County in Springfield and Carter County in southeast Missouri.
