Boone County records second COVID-19 death

A second COVID-19 patient in Boone County has died, the county confirmed Wednesday.

County officials said the patient was hospitalized, but not due to COVID-19.

It’s the first coronavirus-related death the county has recorded in more than two months. The first death was confirmed on March 19.

Nine new coronavirus positives were confirmed in Boone County on Wednesday. Currently, 33 cases are active.

No new cases have been reported in Cole or Callaway counties in the last day.

Saline County saw a spike Wednesday, reporting 11 new positives and 38 active cases.

Audrain County added four more positives, and active cases rose to 40. The county reported its first COVID-19 death this week.

Statewide, three more COVID-19 deaths were reported Wednesday, putting that total at 786.

  1. Actually, it may be our first Covid death. The first death was not “from” Covid. The person in question had gone to the hospital with chest pains, was tested and came up positive for Covid-19. This individual left against medical orders. Later, 911 was called. The person in question died of a heart attack. In this instance, a person died “with” Covid-19 not “from” it.
