Boone County reports largest single-day coronavirus case increase

Boone County reported Thursday its largest single-day increase in coronavirus positives since the pandemic began.

Another 18 cases were confirmed Thursday, with 59 cases now active.

Callaway County reported Thursday they have counted nine new cases in the last week.

Cole and Audrain counties did not report new cases Thursday, after both added cases Wednesday. No new cases were reported in Moniteau or Saline counties either.

Statewide, 37 new COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in Missouri Thursday. Add in the 27 deaths reported Wednesday, and that’s a record over a two-day period for the state. Health officials say reporting delays out of St. Louis County are part of the reason for the big spikes.

A total of 946 Missourians have died from COVID-19. Another 283 people tested positive for coronavirus in the state, for a total of 16,908.
