Boone County starts vaccinating people in Phase 1B, Tier 2

Boone County health officials say they will start vaccinating some people in Phase 1B, Tier 2, if they’ve signed up for the waiting list.

That tier includes anyone 65 and older, and adults with certain health conditions. On days when the health department has leftover vaccine doses, it will call people on standby to get a shot that afternoon.

Boone County officials ask you to not call the health department with vaccine questions right now unless you are in Phase 1A (long-term care facilities residents and staff, healthcare personnel, and EMS/EMT/paramedics), or Phase 1B, Tier 1 (first responders and emergency personnel like public health administrators and staff, law enforcement, fire services, corrections, emergency management, public works, and emergency services). The health department is being flooded with calls asking questions about the vaccine.
