Boone Proposition 1 passes easily on Tuesday

Voters in Columbia/Boone County have overwhelmingly approved Boone Proposition 1 at the polls.

It involves exempting senior citizens from increases in property taxes. The final vote was 12,233 in favor and 3,506 votes against it, according to numbers from Boone County clerk Brianna Lennon’s office.

Proposition 1 was pushed by former State Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch (R-Hallsville), who collected enough signatures from registered voters to place it in the ballot. She urged voters to vote yes on Tuesday, saying this is a full freeze to include bond levies.
