Layoffs are coming at a Columbia laboratory.
Boyce and Bynum Pathology Laboratories announced Tuesday it is getting rid of 177 positions at its site on Portland Street. The layoffs start Feb. 8, 2019, continuing into March and Apri.
We learned last week Quest Diagnostics bought the clinical laboratory business from Boyce and Bynum. That becomes official in the first quarter of 2019.
Boyce and Bynum says Quest will maintain a presence in the Columbia area, and some people who lose their jobs will have a chance to apply for a position with Quest.
