The sheriff in mid-Missouri’s Moniteau County says one of his deputy’s vehicles has been struck head-on on Highway 50 near California.
Sheriff Tony Wheatley says preliminary information indicates the driver of a pickup truck started into a slide, crossed the center line and struck the deputy’s patrol car. It happened just west of California.
Sheriff Wheatley just left the scene. He tells 939 the Eagle that the deputy was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut out, and that he’s being transported to University Hospital. There’s no word yet on his condition.
Wheatley says the pickup truck driver is also being transported, by ambulance.
