Burks hopes to represent parents’ voices in CPS board bid

Columbia Public Schools parent Adam Burks is one of four people running for two spots on the school board. He says he is running to make sure the voices of parents are heard in the district.

Burks says on Wake Up Columbia he recalls when he was trying to work with the district to make accommodations for his son, who was diagnosed with a rare medical condition.

“He underwent two major surgeries and is wheelchair-bound for a period of time until his hip can heal, and we really struggled as parents working with the administration of CPS and getting what he needed,” said Burks.

Election day for the Columbia Public Schools board is April 5.
