It’s one of those rare taxes that the voters seem to renew every time it comes up on a Cole County ballot. Voters again said ‘yes’ to a half-cent sales tax for capital improvements on Tuesday.
Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman says fixing the roads doesn’t come cheap.
“To blacktop or asphalt one mile of road, that’s about $78,000 per mile,” said Bushman.
Voters have approved keeping the tax on the books ever since it was first introduced 35 years ago.
