Callaway County confirms fourth COVID-19 death

Officials in Callaway County confirmed another COVID-19 death Wednesday. That’s the fourth death from COVID-19 in the county.

Callaway saw an increase in active coronavirus cases, reporting 20 new positives and one recovery. Active cases are now at 124.

Boone County saw a spike in active cases Wednesday. There were 72 new positives, which is well above the average from the last week. Active cases rose to 316. Hospitalizations in the county kept falling, to 59, and are still below capacity.

Cole County reported 27 new cases Wednesday. Active cases held fairly steady at 140.

The state on Wednesday reported there were 439 new cases on Sunday. Under the new reporting system in the state’s remodeled online dashboard, that number will possibly be revised up in the coming days. Another four people have died from COVID-19 in the state, for a total of 2,236.
