A child from St. Louis has been killed in a horrific crash that happened Wednesday night on Highway 54 in Callaway County.

State troopers say the eight-year-old boy was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Troopers say the crash happened as a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Anisya Wilson of Jefferson City stopped in the right lane of 54 near the Route AA/OO exit. A second vehicle driven by 40-year-old Elizabeth Miller of Fulton struck the rear of the first car, causing Miller’s vehicle to overturn.

The eight-year-old was a passenger in Wilson’s vehicle. Three others in that vehicle sustained moderate injuries, including a two-year-old child. The Highway Patrol’s crash report says Wilson was not wearing a seat belt, nor were any of her passengers.

Miller was life flighted to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Ms. Miller has since been upgraded to fair condition at University Hospital.
