A wanted fugitive has been captured and taken into custody after Callaway County deputies found him hiding under a house.
Authorities responded to the 800 block of Manor Drive in Auxvasse Thursday afternoon fora reported disturbance.
When they got there, they learned that Michael Smith, 27, had fled. He was wanted out of Cooper County for assault.
Deputies began a search and found Smith hiding under the residence. They were able to take him into custody when they told him about the K9 unit’s imminent arrival.
He’s in the Callaway County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
