Carver and Stumpe win municipal elections in Jeff City

Former Cole County Assistant Prosecutor Gaylin Carver wins the Jefferson City Municipal Prosecutor’s race. Carver defeated attorney Scott Evans in Tuesday’s election.

She says she hopes she can make a real difference.

“What can I do as city prosecutor so that they learn their lesson, but they’re not going to ruin their life and have some sort of criminal record the rest of their life?”

Carver worked as an assistant county prosecutor under Richard Callahan. She’s also the daughter of former Cole County Collector Skip Rich.

Jefferson City’s City Prosecutor Brian Stumpe moves to the other side of the bench. He defeats Tim Anderson and Angela Silvey to become Municipal Judge.

Stumpe says he hopes he can continue to help out young people who end up in his courtroom.

“There were three girls last year I was working with, [where] all three went from homeless dropouts to back at home, and graduated high school.”

The judgeship opened up when city judge Cotton Walker was elected as the new Cole County Associate Circuit Judge last November.
