Catholics, protesters clash at Saint Louis statue in Forest Park

Protests over tearing down the statue of Saint Louis in Forest Park reached a fever pitch recently.

Conor Martin was part of a Catholic prayer group when he says he was attacked by a protester.

“I did not throw a single punch the entire time,” said Martin. “I wrapped my arms around this guy so he would stop hitting my friend, and I started getting hit. I did not punch anybody, I did not hurt anybody.”

Activists are demanding the city take down the statue of the King who ruled France in the 13th century. They claim he oppressed blacks, Muslims and other minorities.
